About FramesOnDemand

The frame shop behind the app.

FramesOnDemand is the API-first product from CustomPictureFrames.com — a custom frame manufacturer in New Jersey, operating since 2015.

The short version

CustomPictureFrames.com is one of the largest made-to-order custom frame manufacturers in the United States. The shop has been cutting, joining, and finishing custom frames since 2015 from a single facility in New Jersey, shipping to photographers, galleries, designers, and families across the country.

FramesOnDemand is the same shop, exposed as software. Shopify sellers and POD platform partners install the FramesOnDemand app or connect via API; their customers' framed orders flow into the same production line that's been running for over a decade. No new vendor relationships. No quality variance. The frame your customer receives is cut on the same saw that cut a custom frame for a Manhattan gallery the same morning.

Why we built the app

For years, the only way for a Shopify seller to add framed variants to their print shop was to either build production themselves or stitch a manual workflow with a local frame shop. Neither scales. Both burn weekends.

The framing capacity at CustomPictureFrames.com had been there the whole time. Custom frame production, deep moulding inventory, calibrated finishing — but reachable only through phone, email, or a brick-and-mortar walk-in. Shopify sellers couldn't connect their storefront to the shop the way they connected to apparel POD platforms.

FramesOnDemand exists to close that gap. The same production capacity, exposed through the kind of API integration Shopify sellers already expect from Printful or Gelato. The seller installs an app, configures their frame catalog, and never thinks about framing operations again.

What we believe about framing

Custom is the default, not the upgrade

Stock-size frames exist because they're convenient for retail inventory, not because they fit any particular piece of art. Every frame we ship is cut to spec — fractional sizing, mat-driven sizing, whatever the artwork needs.

The frame shouldn't compete with the art

Forty-plus styles in our catalog because no single frame fits every piece. Black hardwood for high-contrast photography, honeyed oak for warm landscape, antique silver for monochrome — the right frame disappears once the art is in it.

Made-where matters

Production lives in one place — New Jersey — instead of distributing across a partner network. Same press, same wood inventory, same finishers. Color and quality consistency is the result of the workflow, not a marketing claim.

Bill what you ship, not what you might

No monthly fee, no per-variant cost, no setup charge. We invoice weekly for the frames we actually shipped that week. Cash flow follows production, not a SaaS calendar.

The parent business

CustomPictureFrames.com (CustomPictureFrames LLC) is the parent company. The retail-facing site at custompictureframes.com serves direct customers — homeowners, photographers, designers, and galleries who order custom frames one at a time. The same production capacity, the same moulding inventory, the same finishing standards.

The company is privately held, US-based, and headquartered in New Jersey. Production is on-site. We don't outsource to overseas frame mills. The wood that arrives at the loading dock leaves the building as a finished frame.

The team

FramesOnDemand is run by the same team that operates CustomPictureFrames.com — production managers, frame builders, finishers, customer service, and a small software team that wrote the integration layer.

If you have a question about a specific order, a custom production request, or a partnership inquiry, you're emailing the same people who watch the press calibrate every morning. There's no offshore support contractor in the loop.
